———————————————————————————————-

On Monday, January 18th, 2010, millions of people will get a holiday from work.  What if you used this opportunity to give back to your nation, in honor of all that the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. gave for all of us?  In the words of Dr. King himself,

“Everybody can be great, because everybody can serve.”

Here is more information about the MLK Day of Service Initiative, and why everyone should participate.

PCO is partnering with the Wheelchair Ramp Ministry of First United Methodist Church of Slidell to do just that.  On that day, the two organizations and volunteers from all over the greater New Orleans area will get together to build Wheelchair Ramps for the community.

And PCO invites YOU to Take It Home!

Most of the PCO family does not live in Southeast Louisiana – but you can still join us in our service project!

How?

- Donate! We want to build at least 6 ramps – which will cost about $3600.  Funding for our project will only come from donations from the PCO community,  stores around the area, and the volunteers.

- Do your own service project at home!  Plant trees, host a neighborhood clean-up, spend the day tutoring children – there a ton of opportunities out there.  Then -

- Tell us about it! PCO will celebrate your project with you, as you celebrate our project by working at home.  Email me, volunteer@pcoslidell.org, to tell us about your project – I can’t wait to hear what everyone is doing!
